This past week, Michelle Obama sat down with Newsweek to talk about her efforts on Childhood Obesity. It has always been clear that this issue has been a passionate subject matter for the first lady. However, this article shed light on some of the reasons why. In the article Michelle Obama states that “she was living like most busy mothers — a husband traveled a lot, she had a full-time job, she bought for convenience and cost. And saw some changes — or my pediatrician saw some changes in her children’s diet that caused him to say, “Hold on.” She thought she was like most mothers – thinking she was doing absolutely everything that she was supposed to be doing”. What about this is so telling you ask? It is that childhood obesity can sneak up on ANYONE at ANYTIME! However, due to the work that Michelle Obama and her “Let’s Move” Campaign are doing; people are gaining the understanding and knowledge needed to fight the disease.
