Summer is almost here!
Summer is right around the corner! The weather is getting warmer, the grass is getting greener, and your kids are on summer vacation. What are you going to do this summer to encourage your kids to stay healthy and fit?
Here are some fun ideas to help keep your kids moving this summer:
1. Enroll them in a team sport. Not only will they get some amazing exercise, they will love doing it and make some great friends.
2. Set up play dates with their friends and make them play outside. If you are home get out their and play with them too. Introduce them to games you used to play when you were young. i.e. kick the can, red rover, flashlight tag.
3. Take the kids to the zoo or a museum. They will be learning and exercising at the same time.
4. Let them play video games. Yes, you read that right. Video games. The Wii and X-box Kinect have taken video games to the next level. Your kids will be getting plenty of exercise and not even realize that they are. The best part is they will probably be begging you to play it.
5. Last but not least, DO things with your kids. It can be walking around the block, taking a family bike ride, or even running through the sprinkler together on a hot summer day.
Whatever it is you decide to do with your kids this summer, encourage them to keep moving. The healthy habits they learn now will help them grow into healthy and fit adults. Have a fantastic summer!
